Book Recs: LGBT Lit in Translation

I have to admit, I had another rec list planned for today (one that I keep meaning to do but I still haven’t got the perfect ten books), so instead, I’m following Anna’s suggestion of translated LGBT lit. Some time last year, I decided to challenge myself to read a book from every country in the world and, in part, this is a result of that. So, let’s make 2024 the year of opening horizons and reading in translation!

In making this list, I’ve tried to keep from adding books that I had on the classics rec list (which was only a few anyway) from some years back. There is, however, more overlap between this and the various lists we did in 2021 for Pride Month. Those are longer lists, though, so if you read this list and you want more recs, go check them out!

Before we start, if you’re reading this post, please take the time to visit gazafunds.com (@gazafunds on twitter), where you’ll find any number of campaigns from Gazans to share and donate to. Every time you refresh, you’ll see a new campaign spotlighted. You can also “adopt” a campaign, which means repeatedly sharing it online to keep it in people’s awareness and collect donations. So, please do!

    Book Recs: Polish LGBT Nonfiction

I’m sorry to probably like 99% of our followers, but as you can see, today’s rec list is extremely niche. I can’t have you forgetting one person of this blog’s duo is Polish, though! So let me ramble about some books you won’t be able to read yourself, unless you want to sacrifice years of your life to learn our language… It’s gonna be fun (for me)!

Więc tak, dziesięć polskich książek lgbt z literatury faktu! Głównie biografii.

And hey, none of those titles are available on Everand, but if you still want to check out that service but don’t have an account yet, use my invite code to get 2 months for free! (This also gives me one free month.)

    Author Interview: Marisa Kanter

Fans of books about bisexual disasters should, if they haven’t already, put Marisa Kanter’s book on their priority list. After all, what’s more disastrous than trying to make an ex jealous by faking a romance with someone else? But if you hadn’t already, fear not! That’s why we’re here, with an interview from the author perfectly designed to whet your appetite.

Quickly though, before we start, remember you can also keep up with Marisa on instagram! And, of course, you can still preorder Finally Fitz in time for next week!

Music Releases: LGBT songs of March 2024

I had to make a lot of choices today (we had elections in my country), so as an evening treat I made even more choices and decided which songs should be highlighted in the post itself. Do not ask me what my criteria are for this, by the way: I have no clue. Apart from featuring my favourite songs of the month? And choosing the favouritest of the favourite?

I also compiled a small playlists of LGBT Palestinian artists, if that’s something of interest for you.

    Excerpt: Molten Death

Tomorrow marks the release of Leslie Karst’s Molten Death, a sapphic murder mystery set amidst lava flows in Hawai’i. If that sounds good to you, what better way to whet your appetite than to give you this: a sneak preview of the first chapter!

Don’t forget, there’s still time to preorder this one! And you can always keep up to date with news from Leslie on instagram.

    Guest Post: F. T. Lukens

Before you dive in (or even after!), you can still preorder Otherworldly so that it’ll arrive on your doorstep (or ereader-step) for you to sink your teeth into right away!

Book Recs: Adult Sci Fi (II)

It’s been a while since we did one of these, right? What with our beginning of the year focus on releases lists, plus work taking up a lot of time (and energy!), rec lists have been sort of on the backburner. But not any longer! Since there’s been so much incredible sci fi being released in the past few years, what better time to do a part two to an adult sci fi rec list I first made, oh, only 4 years ago now. Part one of this rec list be found here.

But before we start, I’m sure everyone is aware of the genocidal campaign that’s been conducted on Gaza for the past 6 months. If you have a bit of spare income and are looking for places to donate let us direct you to a few: you can find verified gofundmes to donate to here and here, you can donate to UNRWA directly, or to the Crips for eSims for Gaza campaign, or you can purchase your own eSims (tutorials here and here), or to organisations directly in Gaza, or you can donate to Anera. On top of this, you can also keep lobbying the people in power, and protesting, and just generally disrupting everyday life.

Music Releases: LGBT songs of February 2024

Better late than never, so here it is! The playlist (linked at the bottom of the post) I created with all the songs by LGBT artists released last month. All the songs I know about, of course. Surely, there are many many more, but at the end of the day I am just one person. That’s why I always ask people to submit their music via email! Anyway, hope you enjoy and find here some new faves.

I also compiled a small playlists of LGBT Palestinian artists, if that’s something of interest for you.

    Author Interview: Christen Randall

It’s The No-Girlfriend Rule‘s book birthday (in the US) today, so what better way to celebrate than with an interview with the author! And if you’re in the UK, you’re doubly in luck because there’s barely two days left to wait for its release here! Wins all around, we think.

Quickly, before we start with the interview, remember you can also keep up with Christen on twitter!

Book Releases: 2024 Books With Non-Cis Protagonists

It’s been years of this, so you already know: there are only books with major trans rep here, which is to say with main characters or love interests (or actually important side characters). I like to think that choice is self-explanatory. (And as always, if you catch any mistakes, please leave a comment!)

Also, a lot of those titles are (or will be) available on Scribd, so if you want to check out that service but don’t have an account yet, use my invite code to get 2 months for free! (This also gives me one free month.)

It’s that time of the month! Today we’re bringing you a quick look at the 2024 middle grade and picture book releases we know about so far. Obviously, this will be updated as the year goes on, so it’s far from exhaustive, but! Something to look forward to nevertheless.

And, if you’re looking, you can find the releases posts for 2023, 2022, and 2021 here, here, and here!

Music Releases: LGBT songs of January 2024

You will notice, upon opening the playlist linked at the bottom, that I’m changing the format of it a little bit. Which is to say I decided to be including all releases from any given month, so whole albums and such. A song I choose from an album might not be the one you will fall in love with, that’s why I’m doing it this way from now on. The playlists will be a lot longer, but I don’t imagine that’s a problem.

I also compiled a small playlists of LGBT Palestinian artists, if that’s something of interest for you.
