I had to make a lot of choices today (we had elections in my country), so as an evening treat I made even more choices and decided which songs should be highlighted in the post itself. Do not ask me what my criteria are for this, by the way: I have no clue. Apart from featuring my favourite songs of the month? And choosing the favouritest of the favourite?
I also compiled a small playlists of LGBT Palestinian artists, if that’s something of interest for you.

It’s been a while since we did one of these, right? What with our beginning of the year focus on releases lists, plus work taking up a lot of time (and energy!), rec lists have been sort of on the backburner. But not any longer! Since there’s been so much incredible sci fi being released in the past few years, what better time to do a part two to an adult sci fi rec list I first made, oh, only 4 years ago now. Part one of this rec list be found here.
But before we start, I’m sure everyone is aware of the genocidal campaign that’s been conducted on Gaza for the past 6 months. If you have a bit of spare income and are looking for places to donate let us direct you to a few: you can find verified gofundmes to donate to here and here, you can donate to UNRWA directly, or to the Crips for eSims for Gaza campaign, or you can purchase your own eSims (tutorials here and here), or to organisations directly in Gaza, or you can donate to Anera. On top of this, you can also keep lobbying the people in power, and protesting, and just generally disrupting everyday life.
Better late than never, so here it is! The playlist (linked at the bottom of the post) I created with all the songs by LGBT artists released last month. All the songs I know about, of course. Surely, there are many many more, but at the end of the day I am just one person. That’s why I always ask people to submit their music via email! Anyway, hope you enjoy and find here some new faves.

It’s that time of the month! Today we’re bringing you a quick look at the 2024 middle grade and picture book releases we know about so far. Obviously, this will be updated as the year goes on, so it’s far from exhaustive, but! Something to look forward to nevertheless.

You will notice, upon opening the playlist linked at the bottom, that I’m changing the format of it a little bit. Which is to say I decided to be including all releases from any given month, so whole albums and such. A song I choose from an album might not be the one you will fall in love with, that’s why I’m doing it this way from now on. The playlists will be a lot longer, but I don’t imagine that’s a problem.

First stab at this post brings us 390 sapphic releases for the first half of 2024, which here are split into genres like last year to make your next read easier to find! This is all I really have to say about the post itself because it feels very strange to me to be going about business as usual in the midst of a genocide (which, by the by, several Western countries are now enabling even more than they already were by withholding aid to UNRWA, based on the dubious claims by the occupying state that 12 of its members (0.04%!) were involved in the events of 7th October. Collective punishment, anyone?). So, let me get this message in before the post proper to say: keep watching Palestine and Gaza. Keep contacting your politicians, keep protesting, keep boycotting, keep talking about it all! From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!
