A list of ownvoices m/m books in the sense that they’re all written by achillean authors. They’re not even all strictly m/m romances, some have little to no romance. But they all have achillean main characters.
Also worth noting is that last year’s post had barely 69 books, but this year it’s over 100! Let’s hope this number keeps growing with each year.
There are no rainbow emojis, since all the authors are achillean. But there are plant emojis for nonbinary authors.
And hey, a lot of those titles are available on Scribd, so if you want to check out that service but don’t have an account yet, use my invite code to get 2 months for free! (This also gives me one free month.)

Great list as always 💚! Just for your information though, Howl was moved to April and The Honeys to August. Publishing is such a bore sometimes…

thank you! and oh my god, why do i always learn about those things AFTER i post…

Thanks for making so many lists! They are so helpful to me and I’ve found a lot of great books! It feels a little unbalanced that the male books are own voices but the sapphic books are not. There are many people who are not lesbians (both queer men and straight people) who write books about lesbians (ex. Max Gladstone, P Djeli Clark, Geoff Ryman, Greg Rucka, Sean Dickinson) and they do not seem to get as much criticism as queer women who write books about m/m. Especially because often these “women” are actually nonbinary or trans masc (although I know that in your case you did a great job of pointing out that trans people write m/m too). Also is anyone else uncomfortable with achillean being the go-to word when he was an enslaver who committed sexual violence?

you’re so very welcome!
yeah, there absolutely are men writing sapphic characters & they don’t get as much criticism as cishet women writing m/m books, but i think it’s important to take context into account. none of the authors you mentioned yourself write f/f romance books that are made up of sex scenes in 60%. male writers fetishising sapphics aren’t really a major problem. whereas every single month you get dozens of questionable m/m “romance” books, none of them written by gay men. that was the main reason this series of posts was created. and actually, if you look at f/f romance books being published, a lot (if not most!) of them are written by sapphics. there are whole indie presses devoted to basically just that. m/m books still have a long way to go, so to speak.
