it stands for non-fungible tokens (which i realise clears nothing up) & the best explanation of these is probably here. long story short, they’re bad for the environment, & in this particular case, it involved teens paying to be able to write into the world with their own characters, some of which might then be selected to become canon in the world. pretty much just a scam
