ARC Review: Nottingham

45990075._sy475_

Robyn Hood didn’t set out to rob the rich, but in Nottingham, nothing ever goes according to plan….

After a fateful hunting accident sends her on the run from the law, Robyn finds herself deep in the heart of Sherwood Forest. All she really wants to do is provide for her family and stay out of trouble, but when the Sheriff of Nottingham levies the largest tax in the history of England, she’s forced to take matters into her own hands. Relying on the help of her band of merry women and the Sheriff’s intriguing—and off limits—daughter, Marian, Robyn must find a way to pull off the biggest heist Sherwood has ever seen.

With both heart and freedom at stake, just how much will she risk to ensure the safety of the ones she loves?

5 Reasons to Read this Book

ARC kindly provided by Bywater Books

One. No one in this book (excepting the bad guys, duh) is straight. None of the main characters. Not one. Nada. Zilch.

Two. We all love a good retelling, don’t we? And this is an excellent reimagining of the whole Robin Hood mythos, as well as being something that’ll make you want to read even more about it all. Basically the perfect thing, right?

Three. Do it for Tuck. Don’t ask questions: just do it.

Four. We need more historical novels telling our own stories given how much of us gets obscured in history (me & Anna had a discussion post about this), particularly stories which are happy endings. And this is just that.

Five. It has a slowburn romance that will leave you wanting so much more, and it’s done so well because Marian and Robyn don’t see a whole lot of each other throughout the book. And yet! The tension! The romance! Read it, basically.

And don’t forget to check out the interview we did with Anna Burke as well!
